Preparation for Mahayoga Meditation Practice
Every Sunday morning: 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Yeshe Khorlo Centre, 839 Foul Bay Rd
Translator: Linda Douma

Mahayoga, which focuses on the Development Stage of Meditation Practice in Vajrayana Buddhism, engages the visualization of meditation deities and mandalas, mantras, mudras, music, feast offerings and other ceremonies. These profound and dynamic techniques enable the practitioner to swiftly attain realization of the ultimate nature of being, and create enormous benefit for all sentient beings.
In order to truly understand the teachings of Mahayoga, and engage in its meditation practices in an authentic and effective way, it is most beneficial to prepare by reflecting on the basic truths taught by the Buddha: human birth as the basis for awakening, impermanence, karma-the natural law of cause and effect, and the unsatisfactory condition of confused existence. Our preparation then continues with taking refuge in the Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, and generating the pure intention and ability to benefit all living beings. We also purify our mind stream so that we are free of obstacles to life and meditation practice; cultivate 'merit', the true font of worldly and spiritual prosperity; and realize the ultimate guru - the actual, awakened nature of our own mind.
As Lopon Sang-ngag Yeshe wishes to give these teachings in an in-depth manner, it is expected that they will continue for some time. Although it is most beneficial to attend every class, please join when you can and attend as often as possible.
Given for the first time in Victoria, these teachings are called 'The Preliminary Practices of the Guru Ocean of Gems'. Texts will be provided by Yeshe Khorlo Centre.
Cost: $10 suggested donation per class, unless already contributing on a membership basis. If you wish to receive a tax-deductible receipt for a charitable donation at year's end, please place you donation in a envelope bearing your name and address.
Parking: Unless you have a physical disability, please park on side streets rather than on Foul Bay Rd. Thank you.
